Former Ambassador of Colombia to the EU and NATO Mr Felipe García-Echeverri to join Hague as Associate Partner

Hague Corporate Affairs is pleased to announce that former Ambassador of Colombia to the EU and NATO Mr. Felipe García-Echeverri is joining its ranks as Associate Partner.

A seasoned lawyer, international arbitrator and former university professor, he has reputed experience in diplomacy and international trade. In his new role, Mr. García-Echeverri will support Hague’s Latin American clients to advance their interests towards the European Union, as well as Hague’s international clients with interests in the Latin America and Caribbean’s (LAC) region.

“I am glad to join Hague and contribute to advancing the interests of the LAC region for European policymakers and stakeholders, and vice versa. The European Union and the LAC region have a long-standing strategic relationship based on shared values, history, and culture as well as solid economic ties in critical sectors such as agri-food, digital and defence. Today, more than ever, this partnership is of geopolitical importance. I look forward to furthering the collaboration on strategic files on both sides, together with Hague’s team”.

After a brilliant career in Colombia as a senior civil servant, serving notably as Vice President for Colombia’s National Electoral Council, Mr Mr García-Echeverri served as Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, as well as Chief of the Colombian Mission to the European Union and NATO from 2019 to 2022. During his tenure, he promoted the efforts of Colombia and its private sector on sustainability issues – such as in the conservation and preservation of forests and the fight against deforestation – as well as in security and defence.

Felipe Garcia-Echeverri new

Attilio Caligiani, Partner of Hague’s Brussels office, states: “It is an honour to welcome Mr. García-Echeverri as Associate Partner at Hague Corporate Affairs. His broad experience both in the private and public sectors in LAC and the European Union will be of utmost value to ensure that the upcoming new EU-LAC Agenda recognises the needs of Latin America and the Caribbean and reflects the European Union’s willingness to renew the way it engages with the region. In this context, we would not dream of a better partner than Felipe to help us guide our international clients to tackle the major transitions of our time and build synergies with strategic stakeholders on both sides of the Atlantic.”
