Stéphane Abrial

Gen. (ret) Stéphane Abrial is Associate Partner at Hague Corporate Affairs.

Following a distinguished 40-year military career and 7 years working at Safran – a renowned French multinational company in aviation, defence and space, General (ret) Stéphane Abrial has joined Hague Corporate Affairs as associate partner.

From fighter pilot to strategic advisor to the French President of the Republic and Supreme Allied Commander Transformation at NATO, General Abrial exhibits unique expertise in both military operations and high-level political matters.

With his experience, General Abrial provides strategic advice in line with the ambitions and priorities of the French defence policy to organisations in the field of defence & security, and military diplomacy. In parallel to his involvement at Hague, he holds supervisory positions. He is a member of the Advisory Boards of Tikehau Capital and Photonis, as well as of the Supervisory Board of Sabena Technics. He is Chairman of the Board of the French Air and Space Museum.

Background

After a 40-year career culminating as Chief of Staff of the French Air Force (2006-2009), General Abrial was the first European permanently appointed as head of a NATO strategic command, and chaired the GIFAS International Committee from 2015 to 2019. He was awarded the distinction of Grand Officer in the French Legion of Honour and was made Commander of the US Legion of Merit, among many other French and foreign awards.
