Haije Dijkstra

Haije is Junior Advisor at Hague Corporate Affairs

According to Haije, the major challenges of our time can only be solved by making and implementing policy that is in line with daily reality. The input of citizens, civil society organization, government and business community is therefore essential when developing policy. When drafting new legislation and regulations, civil servants, administrators and politicians are open to expert advice and practical information.

To influence the policy process, it is important to share substantive information at the right time. In order to do so, it is important to follow debates, read policy papers and watch the news. Haije approaches issues from a historical and
evidence-based perspective. This way, he adds to the creation and implementation of an effective and socially responsible corporate affairs strategy.

Background

Haije is a proud Frisian, but moved to The Hague in 2017 to follow a bachelor’s degree in public administration at Leiden University. As part of his study, he took a minor at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. During his master’s degree in Management of the Public Sector, he specialized in Public Affairs. As a cherry on the cake, he wrote a thesis on the choice of companies whether or not to unite in trade associations. Haije expects to complete his master’s degree in Political Science in the coming six months. In his spare time, Haije is an entrepreneur in the antiques industry.
