Trainee European Public Affairs and Communication

Hague Corporate Affairs (HCA) is an international public affairs and strategic communication company, with a boutique mindset, based in The Hague, Amsterdam, Brussels, and Paris. Our main fields of expertise include agri-tech, sustainable energy, circular economy, life sciences and health, food, digital, defence and cyber-security.

We are looking to hire a Trainee – European Public Affairs and Communication for our Brussels office to support our team in its daily tasks. If you are eager to learn and add to your professional experience in European affairs and advocacy, this might be for you!

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To monitor and gather intelligence on EU legislative procedures and policy developments on topics of relevance for our clients;
  • To support the implementation of public affairs activities, including the preparation of stakeholder mapping, drafting of briefings, position papers, reports, communication materials (e.g. press releases), organization of conferences and so forth;
  • To monitor news and media outlets on topics of relevance for our clients;
  • To participate in and report on EU (online) conferences of relevance for our clients, including European Parliament committee sessions;
  • To prepare content for HCA internal activities, keep events calendar up to date and support internal and external activities where necessary.
  • To support our team with organisational tasks, e.g. organising and preparing meetings.

Required skills and qualifications

  • An interest in the fields of expertise of Hague Corporate Affairs;
  • A Master’s degree in either: Political Science, Law, Political Communication, Social Sciences;
  • A good understanding of the functioning of the EU and its institutions;
  • Ability to assess and synthesise key information, and pay attention to detail;
  • Flexibility, proactive attitude, ability to set priorities and meet tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment;
  • Good organisational skills and team spirit;
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills; good knowledge of at least another EU language is an advantage.
 
 
 

Working Conditions

Status: Full-time based in Brussels. Contract: “Convention d’Immersion Professionelle”.
Period: 6- to 9-month traineeship, with open-ended contract opportunity.
Salary and benefits: Based on the candidate’s background and experience.
