“If you cannot explain it simply, you do not understand it well enough.” Whether Einstein actually said that or not, it remains Lorain’s golden rule. The more complex the problem, the simpler the message should be – both externally and internally.
Lorain is a passionate communication expert who is not afraid to ask questions. Only the sharpest questions lead to clear answers. The kind of answers that can prevent crises, save reputations and soften bad news.
Lorain’s experience is diverse and cross-disciplinary. She started her career in advertising. She then switched to journalism, working as a reporter/editor for Intermediair Weekblad. Just before a major reorganization, she became a communications advisor at the newly set up National Police. She was a driving force behind the growing social media presence of the Amsterdam police and the new national police personel magazine that was rewarded with two rand Prixs for corporate journalism.
Lorain holds a master’s degree in art history from Leiden University and is trained as a journalist by the Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida.
