At the intersection between the agri-food and the digital worlds, Andrea guides our clients towards new business models and creates connections among the many actors that give life to the European Union’s arena. He is Hague’s lead on data protection and privacy.

Andrea has a solid grasp of the European policy-making processes due to his experience at both the European Parliament and the European Commission. He has a strong expertise in dealing with matters related to the agri-food supply chain. In particular, he dealt with the promotion of plant biotechnology applications, the relation between digital innovation and novel farming practices, the advancement of alternative and sustainable sources of proteins and the development of positive front of pack labelling for the retail sector.

“The European union is a complex environment- Hague leads the way”

Andrea is also interested in the development of the digital economy. He is enthusiastic about how the ‘online’ dimension complements existing and established business models. This paradigm shift is particularly evident in the area of data protection and privacy, where companies are struggling to push their business outside their comfort zone and into a digitally-connected world.

Background

Andrea is a food/feed supply-chain specialist with a knack for digital transformations. He started his career as Parliamentary Assistant at the European Parliament before joining a leading Dutch public affairs agency. Over more than three years, he developed growing interest and expertise in food/feed and environmental policies. Building on this knowledge, he moved on to working as external consultant for the European Commission in the Food Frauds Unit. He then joined Hague Corporate Affairs as part of the Brussels office.
