Maartje Snellen

Maartje Snellen is Partner at FGS Global in the Netherlands and driving the growth of the Strategy & Reputation and Crisis practices, working from the offices in The Hague and Amsterdam.

Maartje has an extensive background in corporate communication, having designed and delivered integrated communication strategies that enhance reputation, drive engagement, and support growth; internal & change communication programs; issue management and proactive stakeholder engagement strategies aimed at building trust, managing expectations, and strengthening relationships.

Over her career, Maartje specialised in crisis communication and management. She was involved in dozens of crises, varying from kidnapping to strikes, fraud, blackmail, (malicious) product contamination, industrial incidents, regulatory interventions, sexual harassment, ngo activism, litigation, cybercrime, etc, In crisis situations, she guides client teams in navigating complex challenges, and developing a response strategy which protects their license to operate and financial bottom line.

In ‘peace time’, Maartje supports leadership teams building a strategic crisis management competence, integrated with other resilience processes and embedded in governance. Other crisis preparedness services include risk assessments, scenario planning; crisis communication playbook development, refinement and training, and crisis simulation exercises.

Before joining FGS Global, Maartje worked at e.g. Burson-Marsteller, Heineken, Shell, Ahold Delhaize and Huawei and gained deep expertise in the food industry, energy sector, energy transition and technology sector.
